About OSSC ( Odisha Staff Selection Commission)
It was Govt that set up the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC). Odisha as a legislative body for direct recruitment of Group-C positions in the State Cadre (as against District Cadre) in the year 1994 as provided for in the OSSC Rules of 1993. There are some 85 separate cadres of posts / services that are appointed into this Commission under various government departments.
The Chairman is in charge of the Board, and it also consists of a Lawyer. They are named by the government and are regulated by their appointment guidelines and duty requirements. The Commission is responsible in logistical and financial affairs to the Department of Government for General Administration.
The President is the Head of Office; the Joint President / Addl supporting. Secretary, Under-Secretary, Account Officer, and Officer Special. The Chairman has the power to dispose of issues related to the execution of the task of the Commission and its smooth operation.
